The Center for Disease Control and Prevention stated that environmental pathogens like Aspergillus and Legionella, as well as airborne pathogens like Mycobacterium Tuberculosis and Varicella-Zoster Virus, can cause illness among both hospital patients and workers, alike.  The CDC states that these potentially deadly pathogens can be fought through specific engineering strategies such as the “appropriate use of cleaners and disinfectants”  and “adherence to ventilation standards for specialized care environment.”
